On this special day, how could we make today's item anything other than the web site of the most well-known mom in football.

If you find a man who says there is nothing he cannot do, tell him to build a structure too heavy for him to lift. Or just tell him to create a drug test Ricky Williams can't fail.

The draft is over, and free agency activity over the next few months will be minimal. For the diehard football fan, this is the worst time of year. Today's item may put a smile on your face and help you pass some time until the preseason nears and the fantasy frenzy gets under way. Football Mogul 2007 is a simple and easy to use football simulator. When I say simple, I don't mean it isn't a quality simulator made up of complex coding. What I mean is it isn't complex to play. You get full control over any NFL team you want, and while you can manage aspects such as ticket and concession prices and other expenses, it is not as in depth as other sims like Head Coach from EA Sports. To me this is a good thing. I like doing a little front office stuff, I love the cap management aspect, doing trades, and of course the draft, but I don't need to get bogged down in the minutia of running a franchise. Football Mogul 2007 is the perfect SIM for those who love the draft, trading, free agency, and salary cap management. Check out the free demo. But be prepared to buy the full version pretty quickly because it's addictive.

Today's item is a pretty cool web site which chronicles college football rivalries. It hasn't been updated since 2004, but it contains some very detailed information on more than 100 rivalry games, including series W-L records (through 2004) and the name of the trophy that goes to the victor.

As most fans know, football is more than just a game, it is a business. Each year, Forbes Magazine publishes a special report entitled "The Business of Football". They take a look at a number of things including franchise values, operating incomes, and profits of your favorite NFL teams. Their findings make for an interesting read. The report is published each year in August. Here's a look at the 2006 report.

All of that media hype about how Donovan McNabb would publicly react to the Philadelphia Eagles' drafting a QB with their first pick in April's NFL draft went out with a whimper today as McNabb talked for the first time about his view of the pick.

Okay, one more item about agents. Have you ever wanted to become one? Today's item is this program from Sports Management Worldwide. For the chronic naysayers out there who might doubt the company, one of their graduates represents Matt Moore, the Oregon quarterback who went undrafted but signed with Dallas last week. Okay, inking an UDFA may not seem like a big deal, but you can't expect to come out of the gates and compete with guys like Tom Condon for first round prospects. There are over 1300 agents registered with the NFL and about half of them don't even have a single current client. For all the bashing agents take in the press, it is not an easy thing to start doing. Want proof? Call Brady Quinn, tell him you heard he is thinking of changing agents and that you would like to represent him. If you find yourself looking under Q in the Cleveland phonebook, you may want to call Sports Management Worldwide instead. For full disclosure, we have no marketing relationship with Sports Management Worldwide, we just find their niche business to be a pretty keen one.
