Last week we mentioned that Scout.com, which is owned by Fox, is being morphed into MySpace Sports (MySpace is also owned by Fox). Yesterday it was announced that Yahoo has purchased Rivals.com, a competitor of Scout.com. It is interesting to see some of the media companies bolster their sports holdings. What does this mean for established industry sites like ESPN.com and Sports Illustrated? Only time will tell, but Yahoo and Fox have money to spend, so in the end this should benefit sports fans.

One thing about the off season is that it brings sportswriters several months of very little action to write about. As such, fans tend to see a lot of filler material, such as "trades we'd like to see" and all sorts of "top 10" lists. I have read a number of QB rankings from various sportswriters, and a number from amatuer writers over at ArmchairGM.com. Here is one from SI's Peter King. There is no such thing as a perfect ranking sheet, someone can always find fault with someone else's list. But in regards to King' list- Tony Romo over Donovan McNabb? You've got to be kidding me...
